For Aiden, the best thing about being a surf lifesaver is getting out of the house and helping his community.
Having been at the club since he was six years old, Aiden has progressed and is now an active patrol member, holding his Surf Rescue Certificate (SRC).
"You get to come down and save people, which is a pretty good thing, and just be apart of the community."
Aiden, 14, was named the club's nipper of the year earlier this year. He said he can't wait until he is 15 years old so he can get his Bronze Medallion.
The surf life saving season kicked off across NSW over the weekend (September 18 and 19), including at the six clubs in the Lower North Coast Branch - Crowdy Head, Taree Old Bar, Black Head, Forster, Cape Hawke and Pacific Palms.
Nippers will be reassessed come October, said Taree Old Bar Surf Club president, Jane Lynch.
"Regos (registrations) are open for patrollers but we thought we won't open nippers registration until we are confident that we can give them some kind of season," Jane said.
The club also walked the Manning River Times through the new renovations last Saturday, September 18 with excitement brewing as the crowd favourite 'Sunday Sippers' is set to return.
