Fragments of the virus were detected in sewage samples from Dawson, Wingham, Old Bar, Harrington, Hallidays Point and Forster treatment plants on Saturday, October 23.
Over the weekend (October 22 and 23), COVID cases were recorded in Wingham, Harrington, Taree, Failford, Forster, and Tuncurry.
Old Bar and Hallidays Point are yet to record any cases.

Hunter New England Local Health District (HNEH) is continuing to urge the community to get vaccinated and tested for COVID-19.
Vaccination rates continue to increase, with more than 95 per cent of residents in the MidCoast LGA having had their first dose, and nearly 80 per cent are fully vaccinated.
"The Mid Coast is doing a great job in getting vaccinated," Myall Lakes MP, Stephen Bromhead said.
This is a six per cent increase from vaccination rates last week, according to Mr Bromhead.
Those looking to get their first or second dose of COVID vaccine can walk into the 56 Chatham Avenue Clinic in Taree, 9am to 5pm, Monday to Friday. You must bring proof of your first dose if you are requiring your second dose. Fill in this form to speed up the process: nswhvam.health.nsw.gov.au/vam
A drive-through COVID testing clinic opened at Taree Showground on Monday, October 18 and will operate from 8am to 4pm, seven days a week. No appointment is necessary and swabbing can be done for all ages.
