Almost 700 participants from all corners of the council area took part in the survey, which was launched during National Recycling Week last November.
Its aim was to find out how residents are currently recycling, identify any areas of uncertainty when it comes to kerbside recycling, and then use the information to inform a range of educational resources to help improve recycling habits.
"The results confirmed that local householders are keen to recycle and to learn more about how they can do their bit to reduce, reuse and recycle in our region," council's resource recovery education officer Kate Akkerman said.
"We were pleased that so many people took the time to participate as this will help us provide the information and resources people are looking for, using channels they can access."

Some of the most common enquiries included what items should be placed in which bin, where soft plastics can be recycled, and where to drop off batteries for recycling.
The survey also highlighted the desire for more information around reducing food waste and single use plastics.
To encourage participation, five $100 #ShopMidCoast vouchers were offered in a prize draw.
The results from the survey will be used to develop recycling materials and programs to roll out during 2021.

"Now we have a benchmark in place, we're planning to run a follow-up survey later this year," Kate said.
"Comparing year-on-year results will provide a good indication of whether what we're providing to the community is working, and what else we can be doing to help people."
