The kitchen is keeping from 20-50 volunteers well fed and watered daily and they could do with a hand.

The hungry volunteers are in town helping local farmers repair and replace fencing damaged by fire.

It's hard work, often in taxing conditions but made all the easier by a good meal at the end of the day.

"If the community can come and help on the evening meal that would be awesome," Dee said.

There's a need for individual volunteers but also groups.

"We'd like for local community groups to give us one evening a month," said Dee.

The great kitchen takeover has already proven successful with local groups rallying to help.

Wingham Uniting Church members recently prepared a two course meal for the BlazeAid volunteers giving the ladies in the kitchen a night off.

They loved the experience and were pleased to help.

"There was a great sense of camaraderie between cooks and the hardworking visiting volunteers," said Stephanie Brown, church council secretary.

Staff from Wingham Public School and St Joseph's Primary School have also taken over the kitchen to much acclaim.

Soon it will be the turn of staff from Wingham High School and then St Clare's High School.

The kitchen has ongoing support from a team from Manning Uniting Church and the CWA ladies are doing what they do best, cooking and donating the food.

Dee has been overwhelmed by the response so far and can barely keep up with donations from Coles and local bakeries.

And thanks to Wingham Rotary there's even a barbecue onsite that group's can use.

But there are many more nights in a month and the BlazeAid camp is likely to be set up in Wingham until mid 2020 requiring an ongoing commitment from volunteers.
