It was a very social week and there were some minor changes to the program.
After arriving on Monday morning, unpacking, picking up supplies, at 5pm the group enjoyed 'happy hour' and dinner at the nearby hotel. In previous years the club had a barbecue and bingo in the park kitchen/ common room.
Tuesday morning was free time, with cards or lawn bowls after lunch. Tuesday night following our barbecue, park management provided entertainer Errol Gray, The Backyard Balladeer, performing great Aussie songs with lots of humour. It was great fun, enjoyed by all.
The activities didn't stop there. On Wednesday morning the group went to Nambucca Heads for a very enjoyable boat cruise with Nambucca River Cruises. It was two hours of excellent commentary of the historic aspects of the river and the landmarks by Captain Robert Kennedy, with Devonshire tea of scones and cream to die for.
On return to Nambucca Heads members of the group each went to various locations for lunch, and then on to Urunga where the happy hour and dinner were at the bowling club.
Thursday was overcast with some showers, cancelling the lawn bowls, so members not playing cards used the day to explore the environs taking trips to Coffs Harbour, Bellingen or other interesting sites. The evening meal and trivia in the common room saw the completion of another successful week.
The bowls winner of the Doug Ferris Memorial Trophy was Terry Britten.
On the Friday morning the group returned home only to look forward to next year for more fun and fellowship.
New members would be most welcome to join the group to hear great speakers like John Stevens from Kinetic Medicine, or enjoy activities such as the Urunga visit or morning teas like the one planned for Tuesday, May 28 at Moorland Cottage, renowned for the "Best Scones on the Coast" from 10am.
