“We were pipped on the post,’’ Taree Touch president Graham Goodwin said.
Taree sides made five finals and won two divisions – the under 10 boys and under 14 girls. The under 10 and 16 girls and under 18 boys were beaten finalists. All other Taree sides made either the quarter finals or semi-finals.
Macksville won the club championship.

A total of 58 teams – two more than last year – took part in the two day event. Two drink breaks were added to games on the opening day to counter the heat.
All 10 Taree sides will contest the Hunter Hornets championships at Nelson Bay in a fortnight. This will be the final preparation before the northern State Junior Cup at Port Macquarie from February 15 to 17.
