The Eagles won six of the 10 divisions at the inaugural titles last year at Taree and were either semi-finalists or finalists in the others. Grades are under 10s, 12s, 14s, 16s and 18s for boys and girls teams.
The sides were selected last October and have been in training since.
“Most are training two nights a week now leading into our carnival season,’’ Taree Touch president Graham Goodwin said.
Games will start at 8.30 on Saturday and Sunday. The tournament should be finished by 2pm Sunday.
Selectors will also use the event as part of the process to name regional sides from the under 14 to the 18 divisions. The State regionals will be played in July in Sydney.
Northern Eagles takes in associations from Forster-Tuncurry to the Queensland border along with the New England area. Some teams from outside these boundary will also play this weekend.

A total of 58 sides – up two on last year – have nominated.
Monitoring the heat
NORTHERN Eagles officials will closely monitor the temperature at tomorrow’s junior touch football championships to be held at Taree Recreation Centre.
“There is a heat policy in place,’’ Taree Touch president Graham Goodwin said.
“Once the temperature gets to 38 degrees the games are called off until it drops.’’
Games will start at 8.30 tomorrow and are scheduled to finish at 4pm.
Goodwin said Northern Eagles run the event.
“We just provide the venue,’’ he said.
Despite the forecast of more hot weather Goodwin doesn’t envisage there’ll be too many problems.
“If there’s a delay we can use the lights,’’ Goodwin explained.
Games have a 25 minute duration.
