Police responded to reports of a domestic incident in Sydney's eastern suburbs about 6.15pm on Tuesday, attending a house on Murrabin Ave at Matraville.
Paramedics treated a 37-year-old man for stab wounds but he died at the scene.
Officers arrested a woman near the property, who was taken to hospital, but has since been charged with domestic-violence related murder.
The 31-year-old woman has been refused bail and is due to face Waverley Local Court on Thursday.
The home remained cordoned off on Wednesday morning as officers continued to carry out forensic work at the scene, with police dogs also attending.
