FOR generations, the Allora Silos family has been an integral part of the silo construction industry, solidifying its reputation as the premier choice for grain producers.

This family-run business boasts a dedicated team of silo builders, well-versed in the intricacies of designing, constructing, and erecting silos that endure the test of time.

In the realm of silo construction in Queensland, the Denny family name has held a prominent position for decades.

With a wealth of experience in the field, Mick Denny leads the business alongside his family members.

Tom, Mick's oldest of three sons, recently completed his schooling in 2022 and has embarked on an apprenticeship as a boilermaker, eagerly learning the art of silo construction from his father, perpetuating the family legacy.

Nick, has also contributed to the business during school holidays and is set to graduate from Toowoomba Grammar in 2024.

It's evident that the youngest son, Louis, though yet to work "on the tools," will likely navigate the realm of information technology in the years to come.

Boasting over 40 years experience in silo construction, Brett Erhardt joined forces with Mick to establish Allora Silos, providing customers with unmatched expertise and craftsmanship.

The family bond extends into the company's roots, as Brett's son, Dan Erhardt, and son-in-law, Drew Fiechtner, actively participate in the business, drawing from their extensive knowledge in manufacturing, machinery operation and trades.

Behind the scenes, Teish Fiechtner and Melissa Denny diligently oversee administrative matters, reflecting Allora Silos' commitment to delivering quality customer service, products and exceptional after-sales support.

Extra touches

THROUGH years of hands-on experience, Mick has engineered his silos with a range of unique features to create a strong sealed silo which will facilitate greater access to the base slide.

At the moment, Allora Silos specialises in manufacturing silos with capacities ranging from 100 to 200 tonnes, based on grain, with plans to introduce larger silos in the future.

Moreover, the company offers on-site installation, with many design features enhancing construction efficiency, allowing the team to offer competitive pricing.

At present, Allora Silos boasts short delivery wait times, and to further support the local community, all materials and labour are sourced locally.

The business prides itself on fostering open communication and collaboration with its clients, ensuring their needs are met with the utmost dedication.

Firm foundations

ALLORA Silos' roots run deep; Mick was just 15 years old when he started working full time in the grain handling industry, learning the ropes from his grandfather Don and father Bob, who constructed their first silos in the late 1970s.

Since the sale of his family's business, Mick has continued in the grain handling industry, amassing over three decades of expertise.

This culminated in the establishment of Allora Silos, a testament to his dedication and passion for the craft.

Situated on Forest Spring Road in Allora, the company offers aeration and fumigation systems while currently serving the regions of Queensland and New South Wales.

Over the past several years Mick Denny has been preparing to turn his 30 years experience into a family business of his own, thus bringing to life, Allora Silos.

Allora Silos is proud to be Australian-made and Australian-owned, highlighting its commitment to nurturing domestic craftsmanship.

Each silo undergoes meticulous workmanship to ensure secure grain storage. Engineered with precision, Allora Silos offers peace of mind for safeguarding valuable commodities and providing robust solutions for storage needs.

The expert team can implement cutting-edge technology to maintain optimal storage conditions, thus preventing pests and preserving the freshness of grain.

Beyond silo construction and sales, Allora Silos extends its offerings to encompass a reliable and efficient general carrying solution through its truck/crane hire service in the Darling Downs.

Operated by a seasoned and professional driver, the company's 7-tonne crane-equipped truck with container locks ensures punctual and secure transportation of goods.
