Competition was again postponed on Monday (Tuesday AEST) due to inconsistent conditions.

"We gave it every opportunity today, but the swell hasn't quite materialised as we were hoping it would," said Renato Hickel, WSL director of tours and competition.

"It definitely picked up through the morning and we did begin to see some decent waves come through, but the wait in between good waves was too long so we will call it off today and look again in the morning.

"The good news is the swell is the best it has been in over a week and should continue to improve into the coming days."

Seven-time world champion Stephanie Gilmore has been drawn in heat one with young compatriot Isabella Nichols and Costa Rica's Brisa Hennessy, with all three needing a solid finish at the 10th tour event to book a place in the top-five Finals in California next month.

Gilmore is ranked fourth, one ahead of Hennessy while 24-year-old Nichols sits ninth.

Australia's other hope in the female field, two-time world title-holder Tyler Wright, takes on current world No.2 France's Johanne Defay and American Caroline Marks.

In the men's draw, Australia's No.2-ranked Jack Robinson, who has already secured his place in the Finals, meets American Nat Young and France's Michel Bourez.

Countryman Ethan Ewing, who won J-Bay last month and sits third in the rankings, is in the second heat against South African Matthew McGillivray and Brazilian Yago Dora.

Nathan Hedge, Jackson Baker, Callum Robson and Connor O'Leary will also fly the Australian flag.
