A reminder that pre-polling for the MidCoast Council local government election will open from Monday, November 22 for residents who will be unable to vote on Saturday, December 4.

Pre-polling will be at:
- Manning Uniting Church, 29 Albert Street, Taree, November 22-December 3, Monday-Saturday, 9am-5pm.
- Gloucester Council Chamber, Railway Street from November 22-December 3, Monday-Saturday, 9am-5pm.
- Mid-Coast returning officer's office (former Great Lakes Council chambers), 4 Breese Parade, Forster, November 22-December 3, Monday-Saturday, 9am-5pm.
- Tuncurry Memorial Hall, 7 Point Road, Tuncurry, November 22-December 3, November 22-December 3, Monday-Friday, 9am-5pm.
- Tea Gardens District Office, 245 Myall Street, Tea Gardens - This venue is open 9am to 4pm Monday to Friday only.
Postal voting applications are now open until Monday, November 29 at 5pm. Anyone who applies after this date will not receive a postal vote pack. The deadline for returning postal votes is Friday, December 17 at 6pm.
iVote applications and voting will also open on Monday, November 22. To check your iVote and postal voting eligibility, and how to apply, head to the Electoral Commission's Voters webpage.
Councillors elected in December will serve a reduced term of two years and eight months after COVID-19 caused the 2020 election to be postponed.
The poll declaration is planned to occur between December 21 and 23 2021, while the Mayor and Deputy Mayor elections are planned to occur on January 12 2022.
Eighty candidates are vying for 11 positions on MidCoast Council in the local government election on Saturday, December 4.
Nominations have been received from 13 groups, with one candidate "ungrouped." The Greens, Liberal and Labor parties have nominated teams. MidCoast Council is "undivided," meaning there are no wards. The mayor and deputy mayor positions will be decided by the new council.
