Friday afternoons are the time I choose to put together a few thoughts for my "editor's note", not alway the best time after yet another hectic week. This Friday afternoon though I received some inspiration from a long-time friend. Len makes regular visits to his home town and he was calling to catch up and tell me about an art exhibition about to open in Armidale featuring his works.

In passing he mentioned it was the Manning River Times keeping him up-to-date with COVID happenings - he lives in Sydney. "During the pandemic it was from this wonderful community rural paper among national and international news, that I also received my daily updates on the pandemic statistics, especially with its full and expanded coverage of NSW," Len wrote in a letter to the editor. "For me being a Manning River native it also keeps me up to date with the local news, no matter where I roam." Thanks very much, Len.
Of course, we at the Times can't take full credit. While we have endeavoured to cover the daily COVID statistics and local exposure sites, we have the backing of an excellent team of journalists working across State and national platforms providing us with news, sport and lifestyle content. We're a small cog in a very large wheel.
That large wheel allows us to focus on doing the job we enjoy the most, informing our community, writing the stories about those things that affect us, and best of all, meeting people making a difference in our town.
Have a great weekend.
Today's photo was taken by photographer Scott Calvin at the very first Friday night "live" RiverStage concert.
