"We haven't been able to play a finals series since 2019,'' Goodwin pointed out.
"First win had COVID and this year we had all the rain.''
The association's 2021/22 season will be underway from next Monday at Taree Recreation Ground. This will be for seniors and juniors. Goodwin said both will break for Christmas and resume next year, finishing in March.
The juniors usually finish up just before Christmas but Goodwin said the decision has been made to extend the season to make up for the weeks lost due to the State-wide lockdown.
Only players fully vaccinated can be accommodated until December 1. Parents bringing children to junior matches also have to be fully vaccinated. Goodwin admits there could potentially be problems policing the edict
"We lost one senior team because they didn't have enough fully vaccinated players, but otherwise our numbers are on par with last year in the juniors and seniors,'' he said.

"We're struggling to get a men's comp going, but that's been the case for the past few years now.''
Goodwin said the association will consider playing all senior grand finals on a Sunday, possibly at the Jack Neal Oval, although they will get input from teams before making a decision.
"Wingham's done that and it's been successful and our association used to play grand finals on a Sunday years ago. It's a good promotion.''
Wingham's season will be underway from Friday night while Forster-Tuncurry start next Monday.
