The 50-minute Halloween special Muppets Haunted Mansion mostly succeeds.
There's everything you've come to expect from those colourful little puppets - celebrity cameos, catchy songs and enough absurdist humour to make parents chuckle. Naturally, ghost puns are flogged to death.
Muppets Haunted Mansion follows Gonzo who decides to forgo the traditional Muppets Halloween party to explore a haunted mansion, with his celebrity-obsessed sidekick Pepe the king prawn.
Inside they encounter Will Arnett (Arrested Development) as the Ghost Host and Taraji P. Henson (Date Night), who plays a killer bride with her sights set on a love-struck Pepe.
It's bright and colourful, and more funny than scary, so little ones won't get frightened by the ghostly Kermit, Fozzie or Miss Piggy.
HOME ECONOMICS
Stan
ANYONE who has siblings knows competition between brothers and sisters doesn't end when the children leave the nest and grow, it's for life.
Who makes the most money? Who's the most successful? Who has the brightest kids? US sitcom comedy Home Economics takes a light-hearted look at three adult siblings at different ends of the financial spectrum.
There's the oldest sibling Tom, played by Topher Grace (That '70s Show), a middle-class author who is sensible and neurotic. Caitlin McGee plays the middle-child Sarah, a opinionated and unemployed child psychologist who is struggling to make ends meet with her wife and children.
Finally there's youngest brother Connor (Jimmy Tatro) a man-child who has become rich through his private equity firm and has bought a house formerly owned by Hollywood star Matt Damon.
The three very siblings are brought together when Connor announces he's getting divorced and he reaches out for support, at the same time Tom needs a loan to finance his next book based on the family.
Home Economics works as a sitcom when Grace - a natural fit for awkward uncle Tom - is on screen, but Tatro's immature act quickly becomes irritating.
ESCAPE THE UNDERTAKER
Netflix
HERE we have another spooky Halloween offering aimed at a younger demographic, but older wrestling fans should appreciate seeing the now-retired WWE legend The Undertaker back in the black hat and coat.
The interactive Escape The Undertaker is basically a 30-minute "choose your own adventure" movie where the viewer makes various decisions, which either lead to the film's multiple endings or force you to restart the film.
The plot involves WWE wrestling group The New Day - Big E, Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods - entering The Undertaker's haunted house to take his all-powerful urn. In turn, The Deadman is attempting to split The New Day and lead them to the dark side.
The plot and the special effects are fairly hokey, but the story isn't really the point.
