Tax Help extended
The ATO has again pushed back the end date for Tax Help because of COVID disruptions. It will now run until the end of November.
The Old Bar Community Technology Centre (CTC) has been running the service for many years with our regular Tax Help volunteer, Belinda May, free of charge to low income earners.
Appointments are essential and are available on Saturday mornings. If your income is around $60,000 and is simple, Tax Help may be available for you. To ascertain your eligibility and make an appointment, ring the CTC on 6553 6677 between 10am and 4pm weekdays or call in at the CTC at 5/45 Old Bar Road, next to Old Bar Take-away and pick up your information form.
Craft at Old Bar
Craft at Old Bar is currently in recess during the school holidays and resumes on Wednesday, October 6.
Our workshop for that day is a crochet hanging pot plant holder in two sizes. Requirements include a No. 6 crochet hook, thick wool or similar, i.e. thick crochet cotton or a thin twine/macramé cord. With Christmas fast approaching, why not make one for yourself and another for a Christmas gift for a plant loving friend.
A very special thank you to those ladies who have supported Combat Cards by making Christmas cards. These will be winging their way overseas before the end of September to be used by our Defence Forces staff stationed in parts of the world where greeting cards are not available.
This year, Craft at Old Bar ladies have assisted this most worthwhile cause by creating about 300 cards suitable for many occasions. Give yourselves a big pat on the back!
Craft at Old Bar meets on the first, third and fifth Wednesday of each month, school holidays excepted. All ladies are welcome.

QR code card or certificate
The CTC at Old Bar is happy to support the community and the COVID response by creating a QR code card or certificate for people who do not have a computer or do not have the skills to do it for themselves.
There will be no charge for this service, other than the cost of printing ($0.25) if the certificate option is chosen.
Advice can be provided on obtaining a proof of vaccination certificate also but the process may be a bit more involved. Call in at the CTC at 5/45 Old Bar Road, next to Old Bar Take-away between 10am and 4pm weekdays or ring the CTC on 6553 6677.
Old Bar Markets this Sunday
The monthly Old Bar markets are back on this weekend. So do yourself a favour and call in on Sunday morning to grab some bargains and unique items.
RSL Sub-branch
Last week's monthly meeting of the Old Bar Beach RSL Sub-branch received reports advising some important issues. Our sub-branch advocate, Bob Waller, has made a submission to the Royal Commission into Veteran's Suicide terms of reference. A small committee has been formed to organise Remembrance Day which is now less than seven weeks away.
Auxiliary co-coordinator, Vicki Jackson, advised that the membership details have been processed by RSL NSW and the auxiliary is now officially established and recognised with 17 members. Membership badges will be provided soon.
The hall committee representative, Jeff Early, advised that the Old Bar monthly markets will be back this month on September 26. Help will be required marking the grounds on the Friday before as well as on the day.
It is also planned to paint the hall interior during October with volunteers carrying out the work. An application for a grant has been applied for to replace the hall roof.
Last Friday night a mega meat raffle was conducted by sub-branch members at the Old Bar Tavern, with 30 meat trays won.
