Member for Myall Lakes Stephen Bromhead said this.
"After investigation I've been advised that the Booral case became infectious outside our area,'' Mr Bromhead said.
"He was with his partner and showed symptoms and was tested at Raymond Terrace. He then returned to his home in Booral where he learnt he was COVID positive. His partner was tested, returned a negative result and is isolating for 14 days in Booral.
"The man's condition deteriorated and he was taken to John Hunter Hospital by ambulance where he is presently. I wish him well and a speedy recovery."
Mr Bromhead said the review is not about vaccination rates which are a separate issue relating to all of NSW coming out of lockdown when the entire State reaches 70 per cent.
MidCoast Council remains in lockdown while the LGAs to our immediate north will be released at 12.01am on Saturday, September 11. This was on advice from the Hunter New England Health authority because there was the one active COVID-19 case in this area.
Mr Bromhead originally said he was 'disappointed' at the decision.
