The nearest Tesla supercharge stations are located at Motto Farm Motel near Heatherbrae and Cassegrain Winery on the Pacific Highway near Port Macquarie.
Council's director of infrastructure and engineering services, Robert Scott says in a report, council was recently approached by Tesla regarding the possible installation of a Tesla Supercharger electric vehicle recharge station in the MidCoast Council area.
The report recommends the proposed station be located in "Wynter Street, Taree or the art gallery in Macquarie Street, Taree, subject to feasibility assessment completed by Tesla."
"The Tesla Supercharger system is used exclusively for Tesla vehicles," the report says. "In July 2021, a statement from Tesla's Elon Musk advised that the unique charging system will be opened to other electric vehicles later this year. It is unknown which markets would be first, but assurance was given that the system would open to all countries over time."
