Christeen Fitzgerald from Vanterbilt in Taree delivered the mower and discussed and demonstrated the key features and the "what's to do and what's not to do" before our managers could take the mower for a drive around the hall.
The Lansdowne Community Hall Managers are both happy and grateful that they were successful in their FRRR (Foundation of Rural and Regional Renewal) grant application for the new mower which they applied for earlier this year. A very handy little trailer and tools came with the mower.
The whole grant was for $5,107. The donor who made the money available through the FRRR was the Centre for Disaster Philanthropy.
Bowls pairs goes ahead
The Lansdowne Fishing Club's bowls pairs event went ahead last weekend at the Lansdowne Bowling and Recreation Club.

Due to the unpredictable current lockdown situation the country music planned for this Sunday, August 22 at the Lansdowne Bowling and Recreation club has been cancelled.
The Lansdowne Bowling and Recreation Club has cancelled all raffles, bowls, bar service and bistro service until further notice.
Further updates and bottle shop opening times will be advised over the coming days, on the Facebook page and a notice placed on the front door of the club. Thank you for your understanding. Stay safe everyone.
The Lansdowne Community Hall is closed until further notice due to the restrictions with the current lockdown.
Post office and general store open for business
Just a reminder that you do not need to drive into Taree for your everyday items like milk, bread and other groceries or even your morning papers or to pay a bill or to get a stamp and post a letter. Thankfully, we have our local post office and general store still open in our Lansdowne village.
The Lansdowne Post Office and General Store, run by our wonderful Col and Shirley, is classed as an essential service and are open from 9am till 11am Saturdays and Sundays and 8am till 5pm Monday to Friday.
The Coopernook Op Shop will be closed until further notice due to the New South Wales lockdown.
Illegal dumping
MidCoast Council's environmental health team is appealing for public assistance to find those responsible for a serious illegal dumping incident along Lansdowne and Koolah Creek Roads last week.
It's believed that sometime between Saturday, August 7 and Wednesday, August 11 several hundred kilograms of building material, believed to include asbestos, was dumped at a number of different spots along Lansdowne and Koolah Creek Roads.
The waste was found in the following locations:
- Numerous locations on the side of Lansdowne Road, between Lansdowne and the intersection of Lansdowne Road and Koolah Creek Road.
- Two locations on Koolah Creek Road - near the Koolah Creek Road and Lansdowne Road intersection; and by the creek embankment, approximately one kilometre from the Koolah Creek Road and Lansdowne Road intersection.
Some of the material was bagged in builders' plastic or asbestos bags, while at the site of the creek embankment the material was dumped without any containment and has spilled into the creek.
"This is an extremely serious incident that poses a threat to the health of our environment and our community," Gary Mead, MidCoast Council's executive manager of liveability and sustainable development, said.
"Significant penalties apply for the unlawful disposal of waste, especially the unlawful disposal of asbestos containing materials, carrying fines of up to $4000 for an individual and $8000 for a corporation."
Council staff were notified of the dumping last Wednesday with NSW Fire and Rescue also called in to assist with the assessment and safe removal of the waste.
"We would like to hear from anyone in the community who may have seen suspicious activity in the area, who may have information or even dashcam footage during the timeframe being investigated," Gary added.
Anyone who may be able to assist council with the investigation can phone 7955 7777.
