"They have each been awarded a scholarship based on their needs, to be paid in progressive instalments across the duration of their current studies.
"We are incredibly grateful to MidCoast Council for this strong backing of our first student cohort and we encourage other TUC students in financial need to reach out for assistance, as we have several scholarship programs in place."
MidCoast Council mayor, Cr David West, said the program was a great opportunity for local students to be supported in their studies.
"This is a fantastic partnership between Taree Universities Campus and MidCoast Council and I am proud we can support our community this way," Cr West said.
Council general manager Adrian Panuccio said council was pleased to be supporting opportunities to encourage graduates to join, or rejoin, the local workforce.
"The Taree Universities Campus is all about matching students and graduates with local workplaces to meet skills shortages.
"As one of the region's largest employers, council strongly supports this vision which will upskill the community, help fill local skills gaps and grow our region's economy."
