Following about two years of serious decline in active member interest, both from the businesses and the general community, the Old Bar Manning Point Business and Community Association is now experiencing a healthy resurgence in membership and interest.

The organisation held its annual general meeting on Saturday afternoon at the Old Bar Surf Club and many new faces appeared in the room and filled out their membership forms. Not only did they become members, but many also volunteered for a role on the committee.
Save for the treasurer, none of the positions were filled by the incumbent. It's a new team.
The elections resulted in the following: president, Mel Rosamond (formerly vice president); vice president (business), Cozette Leonard; vice president (community), Sally Pryor; treasurer, Steve Doessel; secretary, Sophia Miller; minutes secretary, Anne Rorke; then committee members, Liam Worth; Jenny Goldstein; Helen Chaplin; Annette O'Rourke; Kate Plakinger; Peter Rath and Kylie Rath.
The public officer, Ian Dimmock, agreed to continue in the role so no election was required.
The new team has the strength and appears to have the enthusiasm to drive projects to fruition so the challenge now will be to secure funding for the various projects envisaged as the association does not have a regular income source, other than membership fees and these do not make a significant difference to the bank balance.
Grants are available from time to time and so Federal and State representatives, as well as MidCoast Council, can expect to be hearing from the team soon.
