During the past weekend Manning Great Lakes Police District issued four infringements to persons who were disobeying the Public Health Order by leaving the Greater Sydney area.
Acting Superintendent George said the numbers showed the majority of the community understood the significance of the outbreak.
Officers from Manning Great Lakes Police District are continuing to enforce all public health orders as the number of community transmissions of COVID-19 increases across the Greater Sydney area.
"Thankfully, only one case (Goulburn) has been recorded outside the Greater Sydney area, and police are focused on doing everything they can to ensure regional NSW remains safe from the virus,'' Acting Superintendent George said..
"Key to the success of keeping COVID-19 out of the regions so far has been community cooperation with the public health orders, and particularly, the willingness of locals to call out those who are still doing the wrong thing.
"As Commissioner Fuller said yesterday (Monday, July 12), there were more than 3000 COVID-19 related calls to Crimestoppers over the weekend across the State.
"In the past weekend Manning Great Lakes Police District has issued four infringements to persons who were disobeying the Public Health Order by leaving the Greater Sydney area.
"I want to say to everyone - thank you for helping to keep us safe so far," Acting Superintendent George added.
"Keeping our region free of COVID-19 depends on the cooperation of everyone, and the willingness of our community to call out bad behaviour but now is not the time for complacency.
"To those who think they don't have to stick to the rules - police are out and about conducting patrols and will not hesitate to give you a ticket."
