Space Kids Sabotage is a chapter book for young readers, set in the future.
Aleesah says the themes of the book are friendship and mystery.
"It's about kids solving things. It hearkens back a bit to the Fantastic Five."
The characters in the book undertake some investigative work and space exploration, to figure out who or what is causing problems on a space station.
"It's really for modern kids. It's packed full of adventure and action," Aleesah said.
"And I think it empowers the children to be the ones who save the adults. Children want to see themselves empowered and saving the world."
Aleesah says the characters are "so funny and full of life", and thinks readers will love the cute little robo-pet, half ferret and half dog (a ferrog).
Aleesah has written more than 50 books for children and young adults, with many championing the cause of animals, the environment, and self-empowerment of children.
She has won or been shortlisted for numerous awards including the Environment Award for Children's Literature, the Children's Book Council of Australia Awards, and the Speech Pathology Book of the Year Awards.
Aleesah grew up on a farm outside Tinonee. Her two sisters and parents still live in the Manning, with one of her sister's children attending the same school as Aleesah did as a child, Tinonee Public School.
Space Kids Sabotage is illustrated by Nancy Bovington and published by Big Sky Publishing. It is available from July 7 at all good book stores, and online at Amazon and Booktopia.
