
BANDS, markets, skateboarding and competition on the waves will bring all the action to Town Beach, Port Macquarie this weekend for the inaugural Ride The Wave festival.
The event is being staged by Make A Difference Port Macquarie
The festival will have something for everyone, from the surfing and skateboarding competition, live music, a film and photography contest, battle of the band contest, market stalls, food vendors and a family fun zone
The festival's main event is the surf competition which is in partnership with Surfing NSW, Port Macquarie Surf Board Riders Club, Mid North Coast Girls Surf Riders and Port Macquarie Surf School.
All of the funds raised through the festival will go directly to Make a Difference.
The local charity is run by volunteers and their mission is to support disadvantaged and marginalised people on the Mid North Coast.

Ride the Sound Wave
Ride the Sound Wave is a live boutique music event staged on Town Beach, Port Macquarie as part of the Ride the Wave Festival on Saturday, June 19 from 10.30am to 4.30pm.
Indie punk rock band Beddy Rays will headline with Vanilla Gorilla and Scuffs supported by Palomino and Mikk.
This is is an all ages music event. Tickets are free and available at the gate.
Sets at Setts
Kick off an epic weekend of fun with the ultimate social event at the Pavilion at Settler's Inn.
An evening of delicious food, chilled sets by Keanu Jai and Mat Brooker, and a fun vibe thanks to emcee Tim Maddren make up the program on Friday, June 18 between 6pm and 8.30pm.
Tickets $50, includes dinner.
Battle of the Bands
Live Set is the RTW Online Battle of the Bands competition for amateur bands, solo acoustic artists and DJs.
Voting is now live on the Make a Difference PMQ Facebook page.
Bands competing are Swell House, Dial Denial, Scoot the Loo, Group Therapy, Acacia Blue, Red Violet.
The winning bands will be given the opportunity to perform a live 30 minute set at Ride the Sound Wave at Town Beach on Saturday, June 19 between 10am - 11am.
They will also receive a prize pack to the value of $500 from Coastal Music.
Markets
A wide range of market stalls and food vendors will be in place from 8am to 2pm at Town Beach as part of the Ride the Wave festival.
Live music by Leigh I'Anson from 8am to 10am.

Skate Comp and Clinic
Port Macquarie Skate Park will play host to a new and exciting competition for the region on Saturday, June 19.
The action kicks off at Port Macquarie Skatepark between 10am and 4pm. There will be a skate clinic between 11am-12 noon, competition from 2pm-3pm and a 15 minute exhibition by Albie Watson (scooter) wrapping up with a presentation from 3pm.
Gold coin donation entry (all proceeds go to M.A.D Charity).
Surf Comp and Clinic
In partnership with Surfing NSW, Port Macquarie Surf Board Riders Club, MNC Girls Surf Riders Inc and Port Macquarie Surf School, the main event at Ride the Wave Festival is the surfing competition.
Heats will be held on Friday and Saturday with finals to be held on Sunday, June 20.
Surfers will compete in the under 12s, 14s, 16s and Open Men's and Women's Divisions.
Over $7000 worth of prizes and prize money including prize packs.
Film and Photo Comp
The RTW Surf & Skate film and photo competition is open to amateur photographers and videographers.
Winners for each category will be announced on the MAD website and via social media by Saturday, July 3.
