This year, Joyce was able to celebrate her 101st birthday surrounded by around 35 friends at the regular Monday get together of the Wingham Brush RSL Day Club at the Wingham Masonic Lodge.
Karaoke singer Dennis Titley provided the entertainment, kindly singing Joyce's favourite song for her, and she was plied with gifts, flowers, and a big birthday cake to share around.

On the weekend the family planted a tibouchina at the Wingham Presbyterian Church to commemorate Joyce's 100 years in the district, followed by a trip to Forster for fish and chips.
Joyce, nee Yarnold, was born in Killabakh, is the oldest surviving student of Wingham Central School, met her husband, Warwick 'Wok' Martin at the now non-existent Cedar Party Hall, was married at Killabakh, and lived and raised a family of four children at Burrell Creek.
Warwick died 27 years ago, and when her daughter Mary's husband died, Joyce then moved in with her daughter in Wingham, where she has lived since.
Joyce has a tribe of four children, 14 grandchildren, 30 great grandchildren and one great great grandchild.
