Crew members showed families and budding firefighters around the station, held displays of firefighting, hazmat and rescue equipment and answered questions about winter and home fire safety.
The open day was timely given the cold change in weather across the region.
About 100 people attended the open day at Wingham. The crew said there were some future firefighters among the younger attendees.
An open day at Forster station was cancelled. Crew members instead took a rescue tanker to the Historic Automobile Show, held at John Wright Park in Tuncurry the following day.
