Barry's challenging camel trek from Hermannsburg in central Australia to Taree was completed in October 2019.
Barry had wanted to do something after retiring from his career as a nurse in the outback. He and his three teenage companions along with their camel team took on the trek in honour of Sharyn and Jemma (Shar Jem), mother and daughter lifelong friends of Barry's who have both succumbed to cancer.
The trek raised funds for World Vision along the way, as well as serving as a learning experience and life changing experience for Barry and the boys.
They will share their story and some of their experiences with the camels, people, the environment and challenges they encountered along the way.
The cost for the evening is $30, which includes a two-course meal with complimentary tea and coffee after the meal.
