The three day event was sponsored by Barbara Montague Memorial, Wingham Bowling Club, Lauders Real Estate, and Reg Matthews.
In the past the event was a triples competition, however due to only one green being available for play this year it was fours.
Friday and Saturday each team played six different teams with lunch each day following the first game.
Winners overall with 104 points was the Forster team skipped by Michael Rowe who came from the Mount Lewis club in Sydney to play with his father Terry as lead, John Morton second and Vic McGlashan as third. As a late emergency entry Forster collected second place with 101 points and the team being Ben Quirk, Mark Aldridge, Mick Pole and Steve Ford.
Third with 93 points were Mark Groves (Gloucester), Peter Holden with his son Scott and son-in-law Dean Russell.
Fourth with 85 points were Jeff Bush and Jack Lyons of Alder Park (Newcastle) with Neville Bell and Chris Kane (locals)
Sunday
Six teams comprising many visitors who remained in town competed for more money.
The locals with 60 points comprising Greg Bartlett, Peter and Elaine Holden playing with George Sinclair were winners.
Then with 59 points were one of the teams that travelled from Wynnum (Qld) as they have done for a number of years and already have booked in for next year's carnival The winning group were 'Rowdy' Muir, Bob Sinaman, George Hollenby and Kim willey.
Special mention
To the Wauchope team which created a first for our carnival by having a woman as skip (Margie Ratcliffe) on Friday and then Saturday she dropped out to let another woman in to play lead (Brigid Loane). The men who supported the girls were Martin Loane, Garry Rudge and Shane Manning. Their point score was not all that marvellous over the three days, however their hospitality was top class and they won the popularity award.
