"We have seen but a snapshot of the impact the floods have had on livestock, companion animals and wildlife," Kimmie Shaw of RSPCA NSW said. "The full impact is not yet clear. RSPCA NSW is working to provide urgent relief and assistance at locations throughout the Mid North Coast."
Last week the RSPCA community outreach teams visited Taree and Port Macquarie, distributing animal products including wet and dry pet food, flea, tick and worm medication, pet crates and other animal products at evacuation centres.
Inspectors are providing assistance wherever they can. They are stationed in regional areas ready for activation by the Department of Primary Industries (DPI) once flood zones are cleared for entry. Many areas are still too wet to access safely. Their focus is assisting livestock, doing fodder drops and conducting animal assessments.
"We are grateful to each and every person who has reached out to offer their assistance and donate bedding, blankets and goods. We want to thank Petbarn in Sydney for donating pet food and goods to our teams for distribution.
"This is a community effort, and it is incredibly heart-warming to see everyone come together in this time of need."
