Bins have been placed at Crowdy Head, Black Head, Old Bar, Forster Main, South One Mile and South Boomerang beaches.
If there is no bulk bin at your local beach, council ask that items be piled up in an accessible point for collection.
At the same time council reminded volunteers to take care as there was a range of potentially dangerous items washing up on beaches, including sharps and chemicals.
Over the coming weeks could will be assessing and prioritising beach clean-ups.
While it's great to see the sun shining, we're urging the community and visitors to the area to refrain from swimming at the beach and in waterways, a council spokesperson said.
"The floods have washed debris, chemicals and sewage into our rivers, lakes, creeks and onto our beaches and for health and safety reasons these areas should be avoided.
"Unfortunately, with all the flood debris that has washed up on our beaches we are already experiencing 4WD users creating tracks in the dunes.
"Please ensure you are only driving between the inter tidal zone and if this isn't possible, then staying off the beach is the safest option.
"If you are going to drive on the beach, please assess the conditions and drive accordingly."
