It is hoped talent from around the region will converge on Wingham's Isabella Street on Saturday April 10 from 10am to noon to perform live in front of the shops.
Small cash prizes are on offer for the finalists and the winner gets a gig at the 2021 Wingham Akoostik Festival in October and a chance to play at Wingham Services Club.
The event is being organised by Wingham Chamber of Commerce with support from Akoostik, Wingham Services Club, Wingham Beef Exports and MidCoast Council.
Bill Beach, a member of the Wingham Chamber of Commerce Activation Committee, came up with the idea to put a bit of life back into the streets of Wingham.
"We're hoping to give the shops down there a bit of a boost," Bill said.
The goal is to attract at least 20 buskers with Bill seeking the skills of not just singers but musicians, dancers, circus performers and perhaps some bush poets. A stand up comedy act could work too.
"We'd love it to become an annual event," said Bill.
Bill is not only looking to unearth local talent but he's also keen to get some supporters in town to cheer on the performers and vote for their favourite act.
To take part buskers must register by email to admin@winghamchamber.com.au
