The grommets will get their first taste of action on Sunday, March 7 when the club championship begins.
Club secretary Kirby Stanley said the grommets competition is getting stronger by the year.
"The younger kids have learnt to surf in the whitewash and have moved into the junior division," Kirby explained.
"Lots of grommets have been catching great waves and we want them to be encouraging each other to get better.
"We will be focusing on the division this year."
The committee has worked hard in the off-season to secure insurances and registrations for the season.
Kirby said numbers for the opening round won't be known until competitors hit the beach on Sunday morning.
Before action gets underway, the club will hold it's annual general meeting.
"It's a good time to have it because it'll give more people the opportunity to take part," Kirby said.
At this stage, surf conditions are looking good.
"We're hoping for some nice swell but we'll have to wait and see," Kirby said.
The club will look to bounce back from a COVID-19 interrupted season, which forced the competition to stop for several months.
The club held one event in March before a four month hiatus.
"It was too risky to continue," Kirby said.
"We'll hopefully not have that again this year... a lot of sports clubs across Australia will want the same thing."
The club still managed a competitive end to the season, with champions and division winners crowned.
A COVID-safe plan will stay in place for this season including social distancing, hand sanitiser use and constant disinfecting of rash shirts after each competition.
Heats this season will be held at Second Corner and Old Bar Beach. Beaches at Saltwater and Wallabi Point are also back-up options.
"We surf more at Second Corner and Old Bar because they normally pick up better swell," Kirby explained.
Without knowing who is on the books this year, Kirby couldn't pick out a front-runner for the club championship.
"We expect a few past winners will compete," Kirby added.
Current club president Kai Stanley is the reigning champion. He won the title ahead of Brock Monkley, Adin Stanley and Oscar Scanes.
The reigning grommet champions will be Egan Cross (boys) and Jemma Holley (girls).
