A seven-year-old boy was airlifted to Newcastle's John Hunter Hospital in a serious condition on Sunday, January 3, following a water skiing accident at Smiths Lake, south of Forster.

It is believed the boy was water skiing on the lake late yesterday afternoon when he collided with another skier and suffered a serious head injury.
Local paramedics and emergency services personnel attended the scene and began treating the child before the Westpac Rescue Helicopter and Critical Care Medical Team arrived.
The child was stabilised by the Critical Care Medical Team before being flown to John Hunter Hospital in a serious condition.
