Students interested in studying through the new Taree Universities Campus have been invited to an opening event on Thursday at 3pm at 1 Pulteney Street, Taree.
TUC chief executive officer Donna Ballard said university partners would be on hand to field all inquiries.
"In recent weeks, we have received dozens of formal Expressions of Interest and additional queries from potential students," Mrs Ballard said.
"We have potential students from Green Point, Wang Wauk, Forster, Old Bar, Rainbow Flat, Wingham, Pampoolah, Tuncurry, Hallidays Point, Diamond Beach, Clarence Town, Nabiac and of course Taree.
"The interest is from school leavers who may not be able to afford to leave home to study, as well as from mature aged students who want to broaden their skills and their career options."
