Event director Garry Woolnough said this.
This week parkruns throughout NSW were given the green light to resume from December 19.
Events were suspended worldwide in March due to the pandemic lockdown. However, parkruns have resumed in all Australian states and territories apart from NSW and Victoria.
Mr Woolnough said Taree parkrun will need approval from council to and then the organising team will meet to discuss the new requirements. He said December 19 is a possibility but nothing is definite yet.
Gloucester intends to resume parkrun on December 19 while Port Macquarie's comeback run will be on Christmas Day while a run will also be held on Boxing Day.
"We know from this experience that reopening events can be a complex process, and we are also aware that the upcoming Christmas and New Year period could add additional challenges to obtaining landowner permits and filling volunteer rosters. Over the next five weeks we will therefore be supporting event teams closely to ensure they are in the best possible position to reopen,'' Renee Gimbert from parkrun Australia said.
Taree parkrun started in May 2015 and averaged more than 100 starters each week on a 5km course that starts and finishes at Endeavour Place.
