New African settlers living in Wingham seek English conversation buddies, rental houses, and casual work evenings and weekends (cleaning, yard work, odd jobs).
The refugees are on UNHCR humanitarian visas, allowing them to work and contribute to Australian regional life.
Originally from the Democratic Republic of Congo, the guys are keen to make friends, play soccer and get involved with the community. They are working in Wingham but have most late afternoons and weekends free.
They aim to improve their English conversation skills through phone calls or outings. The spoken word and shared insights into Aussie and African culture is their pathway to a more enriched life in Australia.
If you have leads on rental houses, granny flats, caravans or bedsitter units, for individuals or that can be shared with other single men, please get in touch.
The guys have good rental references, work visas and can pay rent. Other skilled workers/families are on a wait list to move to the Manning Valley, too, if housing can be found.
If you have useful suggestions or can volunteer with G'Day Mate team, please email Lucy at handupcongo@gmail.com.
