The five Bernina B79 sewing machines allows students to develop their own photos or drawings into machine embroidery designs.
Photographs or images are uploaded to a computer, using editing software to refine the images.
The images are then uploaded to the Bernina editing software to convert the drawing/photo into a machine embroidered design.
The equipment was sourced from local suppliers as they provide added training and support if needed.
Home economics teacher Barbara Tate was excited to learn more about the technology to help students develop their skills.
"If they told me 40 years ago that I'd be teaching computers, I'd would have laughed at them," she said.
The school still uses the 40-year-old Bernina sewing machines as well as a set of 12 Janomes it's had for seven years.
The school will also be getting two new overlockers and for the past 12 months have also had a scan and cut machine, which uses Adobe software.
"The opportunity this gives our students with access to this technology is wonderful," said technology teacher Heidi Speers.
