Surfers accessing these breaks during larger swells often use the harbour itself as an entry or exit point, less than 100 metres from the proposed offal discharge.
Crowdy harbour is enclosed, without significant currents, so offal will not dissipate, causing a concentration of decaying waste, and a continuous attraction to sharks.
If MidCoast Council chooses to proceed with this poorly-researched installation, without conducting adequate consultation, they will be deliberately endangering the many locals and visitors who regularly use this area for their recreation and lifestyle.
