The side includes six current and former Australian players.
Nathan Lyon returns to the side after touring England with the Australian one-day and T20 team in September. Mitchell Starc will be available for the Blues second match. Joining Lyon as one of six players in the 12 to have represented Australia at test, one-fay or T20 International level are captain Peter Nevill, quicks Sean Abbott, Trent Copeland, Sixers captain Moises Henriques and Kurtis Patterson.
The Blues squad left for South Australia last Thursday, in an earlier than expected departure, due to uncertainty surrounding coronavirus restrictions.
The first four rounds of the Marsh Sheffield Shield are being played in Adelaide. Western Australia won their opening round fixture earlier this week against host state South Australia by 205 runs.
Larkin, a Taree West junior and top order batsman, now plays for Sydney University. He was a member of last season's winning Sheffield Shield team. He made his first class debut in 2013/14.
