Two goals to striker John Gudgeon highlighted the performance.
"It was a good game played at high speed,'' Chatham coach Scott Harry said.
"We probably didn't put it away until the last 10 minutes when John scored his second goal. Full credit to Chatham.''
Apart from Gudgeon, Wade Harry was again strong for Sharks while Brady Cross, who came up from second grade turned in a great performance.
Scott Harry said Sharks will now look to repeat the performance in a full season next year. Manning Hockey didn't start until July 18 because of the COVID-19 lockdown.
"And hopefully we'll be able to get a fourth team in division one,'' he added.
He understands there's interest from Hastings clubs Thunder and Camden Haven to play here again next year. Thunder withdrew this season due to concerns at player numbers caused by the shortened competition and COVID-19 protocols.
Only three sides contested division one this year.
Chatham coach Stuart Ferguson admitted Sharks were too well drilled for his side.
'We had our chances and we missed a stroke. That proved critical,'' he said.
Ryan Doherty and Matt Doherty were both good for Chatham while Adam Birkefeld tried hard up front.
"Good luck to Sharks. They've been together a few years now and they were the best team in the competition this year,'' Ferguson added.
