The incident allegedly occurred about 7.20am on Tuesday, September 22.
The woman was offended by the content of the video and reported it to police. About 2pm the next day, police attended an Old Bar address and spoke to the 45-year-old man.
Officers asked to view the phone but the man said he smashed it and threw it in a bin. During a search, the man removed a phone from his shorts and damaged it. This rendered the phone screen unreadable.
The man resisted police but was eventually restrained, arrested and taken to Taree Police Station where he was charged with using a carriage service to forward offensive material and resisting arrest.
The phone will be forensically examined.
