Their performance will be held outside the hall on the surrounding grass areas and will commence at 3pm.
Everybody knows that special health regulations are still currently in force and the hall must comply with those, so please do your bit.
The main points are:
You must sign in unless they already have your contact details via ticket purchase.
You must follow social distancing rules.
You must remain seated (when you are not going somewhere specific) and no dancing.
COVID marshals will be on duty and there are sanitisation package deals for concert goers.
If it happens to rain, there will be two concerts inside the hall. One will be held at 3.30pm and the second at 7.00pm.
Refreshments will be available to purchase in the hall. Feel free to BYO drinks and nibbles. Phone Rita on 02 5591 6017 for bookings and information.
More prizes for school fundraiser
Local lady Val Archer has organised a fundraiser raffle in aid of Lansdowne Public School.
There are now four prizes to be won. Three of those prizes have been donated by Val Archer and Col and Shirley from our local shop and post office have donated a fourth prize of a $30 meat tray.
The prizes will be drawn at noon at Val's Garden Sale which will be held tomorrow Saturday, September 26 at 11 Central Lansdowne Road, Lansdowne from 8am to 1pm.
Because of the current restrictions the Lansdowne Public School has had no chance to fundraise so is grateful to Val Archer for her donations and the opportunity to raise some much-needed funds.
So please support our school and have a pleasant morning looking over Val's lovely garden. There will be plants, clothing and shoes (never worn), books and jigsaws, bric a brac and much more on offer. I will be there selling the tickets in the raffle for the school.
Tennis camp
A school's holiday tennis camp will be held on Tuesday, October 6 at the Lansdowne tennis courts.
Play will commence at 8am until noon. Ages range from four years to 14 years. Morning tea will be provided as will all equipment.
The camp will be run by Ellise Bowerman who can be contacted on 0411 476 063 for all information and bookings.
End of school term
The last day of school for Term 3 is today Friday, September 25.
It has been a long term with many restrictions and events that we would usually take part in cancelled due to COVID 19.
Lansdowne school would like to say thank you to everyone for helping them abide by the restrictions that have been placed on them by the Department of Education. At this stage, there is no indication that restrictions will be lifted next term.
Principal Wendy and staff hope everyone has a well-deserved break. School resumes for Term 4 on Monday, October 12.
Men's pairs bowling tourament
This week's Lansdowne Bowling and Recreation Club's pool competition winner is Mark Davidson.
The Lansdowne men's bowling club is holding a social pairs tournament tomorrow Saturday, October 26.
Entries are full but go along and support the bowlers in this event. All proceeds go towards the renovation of the green.
Another date to mark on your calendar is when the Lansdowne Bowling and Recreation club will be having another "Live Music on the Green" event on Sunday, October 27 from noon.
Music will be provided by Barney Carle. Go along and sit back and enjoy some easy listening music. Strict COVID-19 regulations will be in place.
Improvements at Upper Lansdowne School
This year the Upper Lansdowne School has purchased new school signage and flags, a new shade sail for the play equipment and is hopeful of modernising the tennis court before the conclusion of fourth term.
New, bright classroom furniture was purchased for the Year 3-6 class, which fosters collaborative, group learning amongst the students. Also, the school purchased $5000 of decodable readers, two exciting reading floormats and a new stove.
A large percentage of the school's budget funds the employment of an additional teacher, Ms Powell. This enables all students to receive individualised, differentiated learning, through explicit teaching within small learning groups.
Gareth Rudge is the Upper Lansdowne Public School's wonderful general assistant who maintains the lawns and gardens, plus undertakes any small "fix it" jobs.
Gareth is under a temporary contract. However the position of general assistant had to be converted to a permanent position which required the school to advertise it via iWork for NSW.
A meeting will meet this week to review the applications and select the candidates to be interviewed. As a result of the interview process, the permanent general assistant will be selected.
