Our orange tree is loaded with blossoms at the moment and I hope this is a good sign that we will have a bumper crop of fruit.

Unfortunately last season early this year was a complete failure and we only had a couple of oranges which didn't amount to anything, despite all our efforts to keep the grey water up to it.
The self sown peach trees near the Bight Bridge and on Wingham-Taree Road are also in blossom, so hope this is a good sign of a better season ahead.
Be prepared
Members of Tinonee Rural Fire Service have been pamphlet dropping around the town to say that they will be holding a 'Get Ready Weekend' on Saturday, September 19 and Sunday, September 20 from 8am-midday at the Tinonee Shop Precinct.
The Tinonee members recently received a new vehicle and this will be on show and there will be the opportunity to speak with a fire fighter and work out your fire plan for the upcoming summer fire season.
Advance notice
Word has been received that State Member for Myall Lakes, Stephen Bromhead will be making his quarterly visit to Tinonee on Friday, October 30 at 3pm. The venue will be the Tinonee Memorial School of Arts Hall, Manchester Street.
Council works
Tinonee received a visit last week from MidCoast Council road gangs to work on the drainage near the bus bay outside Tinonee Public School on Cotton Street. Some work was done on it and there were minor repairs done at the school crossing also on Cotton Street but there is still a very rough and bumpy area near the little blue bridge below Rosedale Estate, along with some rather large potholes on Wingham Road, especially as you head to Wingham near Bishop's Lane. They are getting bigger every day and need attention also.
Tinonee School news
Congratulations to Oakley Hansen, whose artwork has been chosen for the Nagoya Art Competition in Japan - what a wonderful achievement. The school had three worthy contenders and all are to be commended on their works.
Just another week before Term 3 ends and September 23 has been designated at Kidpreneur Day.
Parents are reminded that with the days warming up to remind their children to drink plenty of water - unfortunately the school bubblers are out of bounds so parents are asked to provide the youngsters with their own drink bottle.
Milestone
I am starting to feel older as I realise that this week on September 18 it has been 32 years since I started writing my notes - some times it has been a chore but most times a pleasure to put the events and folk of Tinonee into print.
