This follows two great results over hitherto unbeaten competition leaders Merewether United. Mid Coast became the first side to beat United this year with a thrilling 3-2 result in a catch-up game played at Taree on Saturday. They then held Merewether to a 1-1 draw in the regulation game at Newcastle on Sunday.
"Our destiny is in our hands now,'' coach Mick Grass said.
"All we can do is keep winning.''
Mid Coast will meet sixth placed Adamstown in Newcastle this weekend before finishing the season-proper against the new co-competition leaders Broadmeadow at Taree. Fourth placed Warners Bay have Merewether and Adamstown in the final two games.
Grass said going into the weekend he would have been happy to get some points from one of the games.
"But as it turns out, getting the win and the draw is probably a bit disappointing. We should have won both games,'' he added.
Mid Coast dominated the opening passages of Saturday's fixture and jumped to a 2-0 lead. However, United had the better of the second half and slammed in two goals to lock the scores at 2-2. Just before fulltime Mid Coast received a penalty and Evie Bobilak calmly slotted the ball into the net to give Mid Coast the upset win.
Grass said his players maintained the commitment from Saturday's game into Sunday's match in Newcastle. He explained that United had his side under enormous pressure for much of the first half, but the defence held firm.
Then Mid Coast went to a 1-0 lead before United scored the equaliser late in the match.
Grass said goal keeper Xanthe Parsons was outstanding in both games, where she played despite being in pain with a back injury. He said Parsons was really struggling towards the end of the second game, but still produced some great saves.
Parsons is in doubt for this weekend's game.
Courtney Anderson was strong up front while Emma Shipperlee and Josie Mays were other strong performers over the two days.
"But I couldn't fault any player. They were all great,'' Grass added.
