Among the items on the agenda is the issuing of statutory statements in relation to the 2019-2020 Annual Financial Reports. Council must prepare a Statement by Councillors and Management on the General Purpose Financial Statements and the Special Purpose Financial Statements, before they can be audited by the NSW Audit Office. The Audit of the Financial Reports is the next step before the final reports are lodged with the Office of Local Government.
The report recommends that the mayor and deputy mayor sign both statements on council's behalf.
"Our financial reporting is monitored and there are legal requirements to ensure all councils meet the deadlines that have been set out in the Local Government Act ," explained council's general manager, Adrian Panuccio.
"This is part of the process of ensuring that councils are complying with the Local Government Code of Accounting Practice and Financial Reporting and relevant Australian Accounting Standards."
Mr Panuccio said councillors will also consider online attendance of councillors at this year's Local Government NSW Annual Conference and be presented with the minutes of the Local Traffic Committee.
