After this is done, the temporary fencing will come down and the park will be available to the public again, before the installation of the shade sails which will take place in about one month's time.
MidCoast Council is installing the sails using funds from the NSW Government's 'Stronger Country Communities Grant.
Council has erected temporary fencing around both sites and the playgrounds will be closed off to the public this Thursday, September 10 and Friday, September 11, as footing excavations take place.
"We've received wonderful community feedback at the sites where the shade sails have already been erected and we're pleased to be finishing with these projects at Harrington and Wingham," said Dan Aldridge, MidCoast Council's manager of community spaces, recreation and trades.
"We're grateful to the State Government for the funding support to see these great additions to the parks for our community and these last two installations are just in time for the warmer weather."
Council will notify the community when dates are confirmed for the shade sails to go up.
