The school has unveiled its new food van, funded through the NSW government's My Community Project program.
It will provide real life work experience and training pathways for students, with some looking to attain Certificate II in hospitality.
They will also have the opportunity to take the van to activities and events outside the school and become active members of the community.
Member for Myall Lakes Stephen Bromhead dropped by the school on Thursday, August 13 to officially unveil the van with school principal Daryl Irvine, community liaison officer Jodie Bird, P and C president Dale Patterson, school captains Veronica Rosellas and Will Sawyer and vice captains Keira Bosher and Cooper Armstrong.
Mr Bromhead said the project was well supported, and will give students the confidence to enter the hospitality industry.
"The van will be able to go around the community and sell the Chatham High School name," Mr Bromhead added.
The van was unveiled on the same day as the school athletics carnival. Darren Williams, John Thomson, Dylan Bain and Evan Wagener worked hard to put the 'kitchen on wheels' to the test.
They cooked up a storm for staff and students, with loaded fries and varieties of hot drinks the top sellers on the day.
In 2019, the school was one of 20 groups which vied for funding opportunities through My Community Project.
Each group had to spruik their ideas in the Myall Lakes electorate for people to vote for their favourites.
During his visit to the school, Mr Bromhead presented Myall Lakes medallions to the captains.
