Although during the barbecue lunch, several members were heard to comment on the difficulty of eating a sausage sandwich whilst wearing a mask.
The election of officers was chaired by Warwick Williams. It resulted in the re election of Noel Sawyer as president, Gordon Robbie as treasurer and Glenn Buckman as secretary,, with Greg Spekking as vice president.
The three members elected to the committee are Joe Noyen, Roy Hancock and Kevin Bambury, with Ted Wheeler continuing as public officer and publicity secretary.
In his president's report Noel thanked all the members for their support during the very difficult year. He pointed out that in spite of the problems of COVID-19 it had been a very successful year for the club.
Achievements included some very constructive work on the N and HO scale layouts and a healthy increase in membership.
Gordon Robbie presented his report for the year and confirmed the club was in a very sound financial position. The committee will continue to monitor the finances to ensure no wastage of funds.
The AGM was wound up with president Noel's happy duty of presenting Warwick Williams with his badge to commemorate 25 years membership.
Members then went onto the normal quarterly general meeting, with apologies from Bill Oaks and Andrew Figg. The minutes of the last general meeting were read, but there was no business arising from them.
Last year with the aid of a government grant the club installed solar panels on the roof. Gordon Robbie detailed what a difference they had made to our power costs.
There was nothing special of note in the report of the layout committee other than scheduled work was progressing well.
With upcoming events it was mentioned that there would be some slide/film afternoons organised. Also work was pressing ahead in the planning for some more OP SIG running sessions.
However because of the ongoing threat of the virus visits to members' homes and Thirlemere Museum were on hold.
Finally it caused a deal of sadness for the committee to ask all our friends in the public to refrain from visiting us during these trying times. Hopefully it will not be too long before we can welcome visitors with open arms again.
