The motoring company wants residents to regularly think of checks they would do before driving long distances such as oil and brake and windscreen washer fluid.
Given the federal government imposed restrictions on travel, motorists should invest in a battery charger. Charging should be done fortnightly.
If a car has been sitting in a driveway or garage for too long, there may not be enough power to start the engine.
An engine needs to be run for at least 30 minutes every six weeks to make sure brakes, gearbox, suspension and driveline are good to go.
Wiper blades and tyres should be checked to make sure they're not worn. Tyre pressure should be checked weekly or fortnightly.
Remember to keep hands clean when fueling up. Although petrol stations are adhering to the changes, motorists can remove some of the risk by sanitising hands and putting on gloves before leaving the car.
Ensure you wipe and sanitise hands once you're back in the car. Failing to do so could spread contaminants to other items.

In NSW, it's considered a reasonable excuse for a person to leave their home for driving lessons either from an instructor or family member.
Service NSW has however suspended driver testing for at least two months.
