NSW Health issued a press release on Saturday, April 4 providing a statewide update on confirmed cases as of 8pm on Thursday, April 2. The information was shared across Facebook after Seven News posted the information in its page.
"Gloucester Primary School has one confirmed case in a staff member. The school remains open as it has been over two weeks since the (person)'s last attendance. The school has been contacting staff and students regularly about their health with no evidence of people being unwell," the press release stated.
According to the Department of Education (DoE), the decision to keep the school open was made in line with NSW Health recommendations.
"Gloucester Public School will remain operational after a member of the school community returned a positive test for COVID-19," a spokesperson for DoE said.
"NSW Health assessed the situation and advised that there was no need to cease operations because the person had not attended school for over 14 days.
"The Department of Education will continue working with NSW Health to monitor the situation, and the school will keep parents informed during this time."
At the time of publication, the DoE has not advised when the staff member tested positive.
