To celebrate the Queen's Birthday long weekend in 1985, hundreds of people braved the cold and packed the Taree riverbank to view a 20 minute spectacular fireworks display.
As the night sky was lit up, children of all ages waved sparklers.
We have been delving into the Manning River Times photos archives and while every picture tells a story, sometimes the background to that story is lost.

Soak up the nostalgia. Feedback and shared memories are most welcome.
Visit the Manning River Times website at 6pm every Wednesday to view the latest gallery in the series.
